Scheduling of Workbooks from Analysis for Office

Hello All,

 

Can we schedule Workbooks from Analysis for office? If no, do we have any roadmap for the same, as we cannot schedule the workbooks in 1.3?

 

Also, please let us know if it could be possible through any third party software?

Insert Component - Filter: SAP BI Add-in has disconnected all data sources

When we try to add a filter via Insert Component - Filter we get the following error message:

 

"An exception occurred in one of the data sources.

 

SAP BI Add-in has disconnected all data sources. (ID-111007)"

 

"Nested exception. See inner exception below for more details:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

 

We get disconnected and have to close Analysis completely.

 

We are on version 1.3 SP5 (version 1.3.5.2288)

 

What could be the reason for this disconnection?

 

If we filter the same dimension via the Design Panel then we have no issues.

Analysis for Excel Add-in to run automatically when document opens

Hi Experts,


I have an issue with the Analysis add-in.

I am aware of the registry setting that enables the loading of the add-in at Excel startup (which works great by the way), but this is not desired.

My issue is that whenever a user opens up an analysis for Excel document ,and the add-in is not loaded, the document cannot be refreshed. The user then has to activate the add-in and refresh.

Is there a way to embed a code in the Excel document to load the add-in every time it opens (if the add-in is not loaded)? A button in the excel to activate the add-in would also work great.

 

I tried this VBA code, but no luck. I guess it has something to do with the add-in being a COM add-in.

Using BI Launch Pad as a repository for Analysis for Office workbooks

Hi,

 

We are currently looking into using the BusinessObjects BI Launch pad as our repository for storing Analysis for Office workbooks but have picked up the following issues and would like to know if any of you have found any workarounds to these issues.

 

Workbook Linking

Our users make use of cell references between workbooks. These work fine on a file share but I have not seen a way to accommodate this if the workbooks are stored in the BI Launch Pad and are referencing each other. Any ideas?

 

Open Workbook through Browser

We could manage this issue with training our users to open a workbook only through Analysis for Office menu’s, but our users are used to using the BI Launch Pad and when you open a workbook through the browser it will open in excel (and we found a fix to ensure the Analysis tab is visible) but if you just select the save button it does not save back into the repository. Are there any plans to have tighter integration with BI Launch Pad ?

Save SAP BO Analysis Workbook with Macro within BI Platform

Hello guys,

 

I have a little questions concerning SAP BO Analysis Workbooks.

 

We try to use BI Platform (BI Launch Pad) to save and open workbooks. The BI Launch Pad works fine for workbooks without macros (xlsx format), but when I save a workbook with macro (file format xlsm) it doesn't work. I get the error message that the file format or file extension is invalid. Unfortunately I didn't find any SAP Note or other information.

 

Is there anybody who has got the same problems or anybody with a solution for this.

 

We are using SAP BO Analysis for MS Office with SAP BW 7.0 EHP 1 SP11 and SAP BO 4.0 SP5.

Design panel doesn't show up

Hi,

 

I've installed Advanced Analysis for MS Office 1.4 SP2 64 bit which was recently released.

 

 

Problem: after Inserting Data Source the Display Panel doesn't show up.

 

I use MS Office 2013 64 bit, Windows 7.

 

Didn't encounter any problems with my previous installations on Win XP 32 bit.

 

Any clue?

function SAPGetVariable

Dear all,

 

we are using the function "SAPGetVariable" to display the values specified for BW variables in the report title.

 

=SAPGetVariable("DS_1"; "VAR_1";"VALUE")

 

In most cases, the function returns the value in the format: key text. (e.g. Company Code: DE00 Germany).

 

Funny is the funciton with the hierarchy variable. It returns also the value but in another format: text (key).

 

Is there any possibility to get the key and text for variable separatly or get the value in same format?

Analysis for Excel with BI 4.1 SP2

Hi,

 

Background:

We are using BI 4.1 SP2 along with Analysis for Office 1.4 SP5. We are using BEx queries as data sources in Analysis workbooks and storing them in BusinessObjects platform. Users log into BI Launch Pad with SAP authentication to the BW system, where the Bex queries are stored.

 

Problem:

After users are logged into BI Launch Pad and run the Analysis workbooks, they get prompted to logon to the BW system again. Any way we can avoid having people login again? Any setting in the registry or on the BI server?

Inactivity time settings in v1.3.5?

Where do you set the inactivity logout time for Advanced Analysis? Is it within CMC or somewhere else? I didn't find it in the Advanced Analysis Admin guide? Also, is there a way to send a warning before logging the user out...similar to BI LaunchPad.

The setting "Merge variables" changes the values in the prompt

Dear all,

 

I created a workbook with two queries. These two queries have the same variable: Currency Type.

 

If I don't merge the variables, the prompt for Currency type gives me only a list of posted values (according to the setting in the query designer).

 

After I mergded the variables, the prompt for Currency type shows me all values from the master data table.

 

Is there any settings to change it or it is a bug?

Requested system could not be found in 'logon.ini' (ID-103043)

We recently upgraded to Analysis for Office 1.4 SP4_1. We got following error when open a workbook which was created before SP4_1 and save on local PC. Requested system could not be found in 'logon.ini' (ID-103043). Could not access system BWD for data source (ID-103013)

 

There is no issue at all when open a workbook previously saved in NW platform (via Portal iView), or newly created workbooks with new DataSource. the logon request prompts up as usual. Have someone got the same issue?

How to skip SSO in AO

Hi all,

 

my current customer is currently using SSO with AO. So I do not need to provide user credential every time I log in to AO.

However I;m into several projects for the client and I need to test my reports in AO with different test users. By default I'm getting logged into the AO with my developer account. And this is causing an issue for me.

 

Is there any way how to skip SSO functionality? How can I use other user not the one  which is my WINDOWS domain one to connect to AO?

 

What about Analysis Office for OLAP?

Unable to find [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\AdvancedAnalysis\Settings\DataSource]

Hi Experts,

 

As per sap note 1656983, in order to extend cell size, we need to specify "ResultSetSizeLimit"="-1" in path

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\AdvancedAnalysis\Settings\DataSource]

 

But we are unable to find this path in windows registry. i.e., AdvancedAnalysis\Settings\DataSource is not available.

 

Please suggest how to achieve this.

 

FYI. we are using AA version 1.2

No Open Option during File Download

Hi Experts,

 

We are currently experiencing some weird behavior from Analysis for Excel.  When some

users try to open the report from BI Launchpad, the Open option are not availabe during the

File Download window prompt.  They could only see the Save and Cancel buttons. 

They would cancel and reopen the report and then the Open option becomes available.

 

Our configuration team suggest that it might be because of SSO.

 

Just would like to know if you have exeprienced this or if you know any solution/workaround.

Excel Formatting overwritten on refresh

Dear all,

 

I am working with Analysis 1.4 with BEx Query in the backend.

After inserting the Bex query output, I change the column header (to appear in 2 lines instead of one) and center the columns. But on refresh, this formatting is overwritten.

Is there any way to retain these format changes?

Differences between Analysis View & Workbook functionality.

I tried searching through SAP documentation for my inquiry but haven't found anything concrete. What are the main differences between Analysis View and Workbook within Advanced Analysis for Excel?

 

I know an Analysis View is made from a BEx and a Workbook is a saved instance from an Analysis View. I am just trying to understand the key differences so I can make the appropiate security changes within our model.

 

Are there significant functionality Pros and Cons outside the fact that Analysis View comes first before the Workbook in terms of creation.

 

Is there an advantage in an end-user being able to save an Analysis View in their My Favorites or only allowing he/she to save Workbooks in their My Favorites?

Planning on AOE 1.4

Hello,

 

I have build an BW report on top of Aggregation level (which is based on real time infocube) , then I have enabled the planning-> change data(as input ready for the KF 0QUANTITY) and started the query in Change mode.

 

Now in Analysis for excel 1.4 we have called the planning function in the cross tab and then enabled the process changed data and in the planning we switched to change mode .

 

But still the planning functions(save data,recalculate,lockcells etc are disabled). Please help what step has been missed.

Performance Problem with Excel+AnalyisAddIn

Hello Experts,

 

“suddenly” I am facing huge performance problems when I work with Excel+AddIn. My Excel contains several data sources, some macros, named
ranges and a pivot table. When I do actions like:

 

  • Open document (no auto-update)
  • Save as (+ after enter of new file name)
  • Enter/changing formula like “=SAPListOfVariables("DS_2";"TEXT")”

 

the effect is, than

 

  • CPU-usage jumps to max
  • Excel is frozen (5-30 minutes)

 

When I work without the AddIn in "normal Excel" I have no problems. When I activate the AddIn via macro then the effects starting here too.

Any idea what Excel/the Addin is “really doing” and, even more interesting, how to avoid it?

To filter data by member within hierarchies

Hello All,

 

in our report we have two info objects (hierarchy enabled) , but for one info object we are not able to use "Find members" in Filter by member.

I have checked the Query properties for both the info object, both are similar. Also i have tried using Flat presentation, in that find member is working fine. But we need this option in Hierarchy .

 

Screenshots:

 

1. Find member option is enabled info object.

 

 

2. Find member option greyed out.

 

 

 

 

 

Let me know if there is any settings to enable this option.

Is SAP BO Platform a reprequisite for using Analysis with SAP BW 7.3?

Dear all,

 

we are using Analysis 1.4 with SAP BW 7.01 (without the connection to SAP BO Platform).

 

Now we are planning an upgrade to BW 7.30. In the upgrade document I found the following statement:

 

"The BICS are moving to the upcoming SAP BusinessObjects Application Platform BI4.x, which is also a prerequisite for th efull usage of the BEx successor - Analysis."

 

What does this statement mean? Can we continue using Analysis with SAP BW without SAP BO Platform?
