hi all,

I am currently on Analysis for Excel 1.4.10.3295 and on MS Excel 2013. But I am still getting this error.

" An exception occurred in one of the data sources. SAP BI Add-in has disconnected all data sources (ID-111007)"

Appreciate if someone could share any insights they may have on this issue.

Thanks,

Analysis for Office 2.2: "The BoeSession Service is not logged in yet"

We have two different local installations of Analysis for Office 2.2 connecting to the BO Launchpad 4.1.SP4.  One plug-in is installed in Office 2013 on the client and the other in Office 2010.  The Office 2013 pc has no issue connecting to the BO Launchpad folders while the Office 2010 pc with the same installation consistently receives the error message "The BoeSessionService is not logged in yet.."  Both attempts are using the Business objects Administrator Enterprise password and the same URL to connect to the Launchpad.

What are the possibilities for the cause of the error on one machine and not the other.  The PC receiving the error can connect directly to the BW to view BEx queries with Analysis for Office.  It just cannot log into the BO Launchpad URL in the same way the other PC with the Office 2013 installation can.

Analysis vs WebI (Web Intelligence)

I've searched all over SCN as well as the rest of the web and can't find a good comparison between the two tools. I did see a post on here comparing WebI 3.X with Analysis 4.0 but we're specifically looking at 4.0 tools. We're working on a side by side comparison of BusinessObjects Analysis vs Web Intelligence and what situations, if any, you would want to use WebI over Analysis, especially when you have Crystal Reports as an option for formatted reports. To us it seems that Analysis gives you much more flexibility without the restrictions of WebI. Any input on this or links to relevant articles is much appreciated and points will be awarded for helpful answers!

Closed Workbooks still appear to be open in VBE / memory issues

Dear fellow users,

I encounter a problem when using macros in an Excel Workbook to access Analysis functions in order to refresh datasources, set filters etc.

After closing the workbook in Excel via File -> Close or clicking the "X" in its window, the Workbook is still available in the Visual Basic Editor.

If I have several files open, I will get memory issues, as the supposedly closed files still seem to take up (quite a lot of) memory.

I use AO 1.4.4.2736 with Excel 2010 32bit.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Please see attaced image. I have one open file, I close it, but is still visible in the VBE.

After unloading the Analysis Com-AddIn the file is gone, Memory is freed.

Connection to BW via BusinessObjects Platform

Hi guys,

We want our users to log onto BW via the BO platform. At the moment I can pull a BW user through into our BO system and they can log onto Analysis by selecting BO platform using SAP Authentication. The next step is that they need to log onto BW. We don't have SSO set up so again they use their BW userID and password.

select_data_source.jpg

What are the options open to us for allowing our users to log onto BW? By that I mean which of the connection options can we use? Currently I only see a list of systems when I select 'Local System' and it pulls thought the systems from my .ini file and I can connect ok to any system regardless of which BO system I connected to.

Can/should I be able to see a list of Systems that we want to give our users access to from the 'System' option from the conenctions pull-down?

I can't find any documentation that details how I go about doing this, if it's at all possible. I assume I do some security in the BO CMC?

I hope the above makes sense? Regards and thanks in advance,

Stephen

Cannot include Advanced & Dynamic Calculations in some AO reports (2.2 SP1)

Hi

We have upgraded our SAP Business Objects Analysis for Office tool from 1.4 to V2.2 SP-1.

While trying out some features such as Advanced & Dynamic Calculations from the Ribbon we noticed that the option was grayed out when attempting to include it in a few AO Datasources, but were active but for other AO datasources.

The AO Datasources in question are based on BEX Queries.

I am wondering if there are any pre-requisties on the BEX Query side or otherwise which may influence whether or not Advanced & Dynamic calculation option is active? I have not found any information regarding this from the SAP Admin or user guide. Hence, interested to know if there are others who may be aware of this issue in their own solutions.

Thanks in advance,

Known issue in AO related to Input Help (aka F4 Help)

$

Hi everyone,

I have seen many incidents sent to SAP related to an issue in Analysis for Office when using Input Help (AKA F4 Help), in BW 740 systems.

The scenario is the following:

  1. Click on the Input Help:
    step1.png
  2. All values are shown on the list. Select any value and click on OK (in this case I am selecting "Not Assigned"):
    step2.png
  3. The value will be entered on the input:
    step3.png
  4. Click on the Input Help again and it will show only the value selected on step #2:
    step4.png

This issue is fixed after implementing SAP note below on the BW system:

2107060 - RSBOLAP: Correction for SAP Note 2065089 (reader reset)

I also strongly recommend that you check the SCN post below which contains many SAP notes related to BICS (communication interface used by Analysis for Office) depending on the Support Package of your BW 740:

HANA Relational Connection to Analysis for Office 2.0

Dear all,

I´m trying to create a HANA Connection to Analysis for Office with following versions installed:

Analysis for Office 2.0

Just updated Client BI 4.1 to SP 5

HANA version (under HANA Studio) is 1.00.80.00.391861

I have been trying different options and I have not been able to connect porperly to the data.

With a Relational Connection created in the IDT I can access the HANA sources and build my report normally, but at the moment of saving the report I get an error saying: "Cannot save workbook in 2.0 format because it is still in 1.4 format and contains an inactive SAP HANA data source"

Do you have any idea of why I get this error?

Thanks and BR

Problem with BW Workspaces in AAOE: local CompositeProvider not created

$

Hey guys,

I tried to create a local composite provider with BW Workspaces in Analysis for Office. I created a Multiprovider on a cube and build a query with two dimensions in the rows. In the next step I uploaded a flatfile with the same two dimensions into my BW Workspace. This workspace has the Multiprovider as its central provider.

After successfully uploading the local provider I dropped the query in Analysis for Office and tried to add the local provider as new dimensions.

Then an error message pops up: " Data comparision is not possible because CompositeProvider is inconsistent" - "Error during Adding of data".

System: SAP BW on HANA 7.4 SP12

Analysis for Excel Version: 2.2.1.53549

In the BW Workspaces Web Client it is no problem to create the local composite provider with the same datasources as mentioned before. This error just appears in Analysis for Excel.

Any suggestions?

"Select All" option doesn't work as expected in the prompt panel

Environment

Using Analysis for Office version 1.4 (1.4.8.3163 to be precise) and BI 4.1 SP02 patch 6.

Issue
Can someone confirm that when using "Add lines using filter by member" option, you cannot use the "Select All" option unless you un-check one or more of the selected values in the prompt panel?

Most of our BEx queries have a combination of mandatory and optional prompts with and without authorization variables and when selecting the list of values i always see a "# Not Assigned" value in the list of prompt values. Not sure if the # value is preventing AFO from selecting all values.BEx analyzer allows you to select all values without any issue so would like to know if this is a defect or "design feature" of Analysis Office.

Any suggestions or workarounds are appreciated!

How to change Variable screen layout?

$

Hi all,

I want to change the variable screen layout of Analysis for office in order to get the same behaviour as in BEX Analyser.

Indeed, when I use a Multiple single value variable (or select option is the same), several lines are created in case of several values are chosen by the user.

I would like to get the same behaviour as in BEX Analyser and get the values in one line separated with ";" (of course without having to change the reporting tool !!!)...

Does anyone know how to achieve this (if it is achievable)?

Thanks a lot.

Cyril.

AO 2.1 SP2 Error - 'Caught exception: exception 42733: The dependent element was not found: :'

Dear All,

I am using Analysis for Office 2.1 SP2 , and while trying to slice and dice a HANA information view in AFO I am getting the error : ' 'Caught exception: exception 42733: The dependent element was not found: :'

Steps to recreate the issue are

I have a HANA calcualtion view with a calculated column which considers 'date field' in it for a calculation , the expression is correct and the data is showing up in HANA  studio - Data preview .

How ever when I am using same calculation view in AO , in the first instance all the measures are coming up as expected. ( aggregated values)

When I drag any dimension into the report then the attached error comes up . I made sure all the fields considered in the calculated column are coming up with some value.

I cross checked if this is a data issue with Analysis for OLAP tool , surprisingly I am able to view the data slice and dice it with dimensions in the OLAP tool.

The wierd part is when I remove the calculated column which consumes the date field the AO for excell is working fine and allows me to slice and dice the data.

Any suggestions/ workarrounds how to overcome this error?

Analysis for Office and Sharepoint Integration

Hi everyone,

we're looking for a possibility to open Analysis for Office Excel documents directly within SharePoint.

The BO Integration kit doesn't seem to support Analysis for Office documents.

Is it possible to use the Excel Services within SharePoint?

Is there any other way to open the Analysis document directly within SharePoint as this is possible for "standard" Excel-Documents?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Best regards,

Torben

Planning operations in macro on workbook initialization

$

Hey guys,

I'm currently facing an issue and would like to know if anyone has experience with that. We're building an Analysis Office workbook that makes use of BW Integrated Planning queries.

What we would like to achieve is that the query / data source is not input-ready on startup but can be made input-ready by clicking a button (using VBA API). Additionally a planning function must be executed to calculate some columns directly on startup

My problem is that any planning specific VBA command is ignored within the "Workbook_SAP_Initialize()" routine or a callback method that I register here. Additionally callback methods generally ignore planning specifics commands (even if executed by refreshing the data source).

Example:

Public Sub Workbook_SAP_Initialize()

    Call Application.Run("SAPExecuteCommand", "RegisterCallback", "AfterRedisplay", "Callback_AfterRedisplay")

End Sub

Public Sub Callback_AfterRedisplay()

    Dim lResult As Long

    lResult = Application.Run("SAPExecutePlanningFunction", "PF_1")

    lResult = Application.Run("SAPExecuteCommand", "PlanDataToDisplayMode")

End Sub

If setting a breakpoint, the commands are exectued but have no effect. When realizing the commands by using a button within the workbook everything works as expected.

Does anyone have an idea regarding my issue?

Thanks in advance!

BO Analysis standard workbook

$

Hi all,

we are migrating some BEx workbooks to BO Analysis for office 1.4. As for our first try it worked really good in our opinion. We just have some question regarding the "got to" functionality and standard workbooks.

We created a standard workbook which we used as template for all our BEx reports. After migration we still have all the template look and feel but we want to use that created standard workbook for all our Analysis reports also when we use the "go to"/ "report to report interface" function.

For example:

The user will open a report workbook saved within the BW repository. For further analysis he/she wants to "drill down" to another query. With right click onto the table and selecting the "Go to" functionality the desired query is available as we configured all that within the query designer and the BW. By selecting the query, a new workbook opens without any layout or standard workbook look&feel. Just a new workbook with standard excel layout opens and the query result is entered from cell A1 to xyz.

We would love to have that report opened with a standard look and feel but can not find any way for this. Therefore we would need a template or standard workbook functionality so that every Analysis reports which will open, will have that basis template look&feel.

Could anyone provide help for that issue or is this not available in the Analysis version 1.4?

Many thanks in advance and just the best,

Katja
