Version 1.4 "The Launcher is Exited with Error" when trying to start up

I have a user that has Analysis for Office v1.4 installed on her machine. She's using Windows XP and Office 2007 and when we try to start up Analysis Excel opens but no splash screen comes up. When I close Excel the attached error message comes up with the text of "The Launcher is exited with error, see log file for more details.". The log file text is:

After opening excel again I was able to manually activate the Analysis COM Add-in and use the program as usual. However, after I exit and try to re-launch I have to manually activate it again. I saw one "fix" that mentioned copying the dlls from the temp install files into the Analysis folder but that didn't fix it either. We've used the same install on other machines with the same configuration without incident. Any ideas?

Custom Sort

hi all

 

I'm looking for confirmation on whether it is possible within Analysis to do a custom sort of a characteristic by key or text, instead of the regular ascending or descending sort. E.g. my users would like to always see our divisions in a certain sequence.

 

I searched the user guide and this forum, and from this search it looks like this functionality doesn't exist, but it would be great if someone could confirm and perhaps also see if this is planned in a future release.

Insert new crosstab by VBA

Dear all,

 

I got a list of queries (technical names) and I should create 1 worksheet with 1 crosstab per query.

This should be done by VBA.

 

I've looked at the SAPSet* formulars and didn't find anything corresponding.

 

Any idea?

Analysis vs WebI (Web Intelligence)

I've searched all over SCN as well as the rest of the web and can't find a good comparison between the two tools. I did see a post on here comparing WebI 3.X with Analysis 4.0 but we're specifically looking at 4.0 tools. We're working on a side by side comparison of BusinessObjects Analysis vs Web Intelligence and what situations, if any, you would want to use WebI over Analysis, especially when you have Crystal Reports as an option for formatted reports. To us it seems that Analysis gives you much more flexibility without the restrictions of WebI. Any input on this or links to relevant articles is much appreciated and points will be awarded for helpful answers!

Search returns different queries than role menu

Hello all,

 

we have the problem that the search function returns different queries than the role menu. We restricted S_RS_COMP on single queries, however, the search still returns all queries of the cube. Is there any other auth-object to handle this? Or can I somehow do this with S_RS_COMP?

AFO Scheduling - does it work?

was really curious about scheduling AFO-Excels with BO

 

So I downloaded and installed the BO Addon and configured SSO

    

So Scheduling as an option appeared:

 

but anything that scheduling does is: failed.  - not more  nor less ^^

 

And the way it handles variables / prompts seams also a … not simple.

 

?

 

And the Scheduling Options are also reduced compared to usual
Bo-Scheduling capabilities.

 

So is anyone out there where it works already?

Analysis for Office Excel 2013 / 365

I have A4O 1.4.8 and Office 2013 (365 - not using cloud).  I can open and insert a data source with one A4O open with no problem. 

 

When I open another A4O and select insert a data source...it takes me directly to the same screen I selected my last data source in the same environment.  It does not give me the option to sign on to another data source....   1.4.9.1 fixes the error and allows you to use the same data source without getting the error (Application step already finished!) but I am still not able sign on to more than one environment (i.e. another system).

 

Is there a new setting that I am not seeing or is this a bug?

Hi Experts,

 

We have installed SAP Business Objects Analysis, Edition for Microsoft Office (Version 1.4.7.3074) with required patch. But while trying to connect to SAP BW system after skipping SAP BO BI Logon screen, we are getting below error.

Also if we try to connect to BO server using SAP BO BI Logon screen, it displays error: “Error while checking availability of SAP Business Objects BI platform system”


Please note that we are facing this error only from a particular system. From other system, we can easily connect to BO server or BW server.  We are using Microsoft Office 2013.

 

Can you please let us know which settings do we need to change to stop this error?

Insert Component - Filter: SAP BI Add-in has disconnected all data sources

When we try to add a filter via Insert Component - Filter we get the following error message:

 

"An exception occurred in one of the data sources.

 

SAP BI Add-in has disconnected all data sources. (ID-111007)"

 

"Nested exception. See inner exception below for more details:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

 

We get disconnected and have to close Analysis completely.

 

We are on version 1.3 SP5 (version 1.3.5.2288)

 

What could be the reason for this disconnection?

 

If we filter the same dimension via the Design Panel then we have no issues.

Analysis for Office 1.4.9.1 and Excel 2013 / 365

When I open an A4O (Analysis Workbook) on my DEV BI Launch Pad...then open another A4O on my QAS BI Launch Pad...both A4O's show they are connected to the DEV BW system.

 

-Windows 7 64Bit

-Office 2013/365 32Bit

-Analysis for Office Excel 32Bit

-Connection to BW through BOE

 

Anyone have an issue like this with a resolution?

NAV And DIS attribute don't match

Hello experts,

 

I'm quite new to BW/BI and i stumbled upon a problem in BI Analysis.

In a report/query there is a Free Characteristic 'Geplande startdatum' (cfr. Planned starting date) as well as a attributes 'Geplande startdatum' (cfr. Planned starting date). The source of both is 0PROJECT.

 

The problem is that the value's for both should be the same, yet there not.

I added a screenshot to elucidate the problem. What could be the problem here?

How to connect SAP HANA information models to Analysis for Office

Can we connect SAP HANA information models to Analysis for Microsoft office. I went through various documents available, however i just found how BEx queries on top of BW on HANA can be connected but i couldn't find anything specific to Sidecar HANA models.

Scheduling Analysis for Office.. Error message: precalculation of instance

Hello together,

 

We're using:

SAP BusinessObjects BI-Plattform 4.0  SP2 Patch 16 (14.0.2.703)

SAP BusinessObjects Analysis 1.4, , Edition für Microsoft Office - Add-On für BI-Plattform 4.1 (1.4.0.167)

on the Server

and

Analysis for MS Office 1.4 on the client

 

SSO between the SAP BO 4.0 SP2 Server and the SAP/BW System is enabled.

 

Now we are trying to schedule a workbook for precalculation and we are getting the following error:

 

precalculation of instance <number> failed with error 31

 

I haven't found any hints for that or for another error message for Analysis for MS Office

Launch Query Designer not working in AFO 1.4.8

We had version 1.4.5 of Analysis for office and the Launch Query Designer was working.

We have Bex Query Designer 7.3 support package 3 revsion 699.

 

We now installed AFO 1.4.8 to get some other bugs fixed and now we can't open the Query Designer.  The line is greyed out.

 

What happened?

Migrating BEx Reports from BEx Analyser to Analysis Office

Hi,

 

We are migrating a couple of BEx Reports from BEx Analyser to Analysis Office.

Problem is the Size Limit issue.

With default size limit in Analysis Office, we get Error: "Maximum Size limit Exceeded".

To overcome this, when I increase the Result Set Size limit, we get Error: "System Out of Memory".

 

Both being Excel based tool and working on .Net framework, while the BEx Analyzer is capable of working with large result-set, we are not able to achieve the same with Analysis Office.

 

Any help is appreciated.

Launch Query Designer from AO greyed out after GUI 7.40 install

I have AO version 1.4.8.  Launching Query Designer from AO worked before installing SAP GUI for Windows 740 and Query Designer BI AddOn based on 7.40 SP0 Revision 739.  Now that the new SAP GUI/Query Designer is installed...under settings the option Show "Launch  Query Designer" in Tools Group is greyed out so I can not check it.

 

I did have SAP GUI 7.30 Patch 9.  Query Designer BI AddOn based on 7.30 SP3 Revision 699 and was able to check it...and it worked.

 

Anybody having issues with this combo?

Variants are disabled

Hello,

 

We are in analysis of excel 1.4, and created workbooks with 'Merge variable' checked and we saved the query in SAP BI platform. Now my question is why we cannot create a variant in this case(the option is greyed out with message to create the variant after saving the workbook in Netweaver platform).

 

I know if we save the workbook in Netweaver the system allows to create the variant or if i uncheck my merge variable then also the system allows to create a variable.

Hello,

 

We are beginning to pilot Analysis for MS Office and one thing immediately jumped out. Is there a way to not display Infoareas on the Open Datasource tab? We would like to restrict users to only the queries they have in the published roles. The Infoareas allow direct cube/multiproviders which is not what we want.

Open Analysis office workbook with URL

Hi,

I am trying to open an analysis workbook that is stored on Netweaver (not BI Platform) but from an URL instead of opening the Excel / Analysis application. Does anyone know the exact syntax? The best I am able to do right now is to open Analysis office itself with this link: http://mybwsystem.com:8000/sap/bw/analysis?APPLICATION=EXCEL

This opens up Analysis office but without any workbook loaded. There must be a syntax somewhere...I tried to add ?WORKBOOK=myworkbook, etc. but it's not working. I am unable to find this in the SAP documentation.

I am using analysis office 1.4.6 on Netweaver 7.4 SP6 so pretty recent.
