Migrating BEx Reports from BEx Analyser to Analysis Office

$

Hi,

We are migrating a couple of BEx Reports from BEx Analyser to Analysis Office.

Problem is the Size Limit issue.

With default size limit in Analysis Office, we get Error: "Maximum Size limit Exceeded".

To overcome this, when I increase the Result Set Size limit, we get Error: "System Out of Memory".

Both being Excel based tool and working on .Net framework, while the BEx Analyzer is capable of working with large result-set, we are not able to achieve the same with Analysis Office.

Any help is appreciated.

Best Regards,

Krishnendu Roy.

Analysis for Office - Connectivity Issue

I might have stumbled upon an old issue here: I have 64 bit OS, with Office 2013 32 bit client running on it. I want to run Analysis for Office on my machine. For that, I have installed HANA 32 bit client and Analysis for Office 32 bit installation pack. Now when I try to connect to Analysis for Office, I get following error:

Analysis for Office - Connectivity Error.jpg

Analysis tool-pack (excel add-in) is active and running. Has anyone faced a similar connectivity issue before? And any clue about the resolutions?

Thank you.

Adding Prompts to workbook

Hey All,

New to using SAP Analysis for Microsoft excel, so if the questions seem trivial, please bare with me.

I am trying to connect to a BW info-cube located in the production environment. I am able to connect successfully, but when I am trying to build a report off of it, I am constantly getting a

"Size limit of result set exceeded error"

I then have to filter and make sure I am only displaying a few rows for the data to actually show up in the work book. Any idea on how to fix this?

Also As the title suggests, How do we add Prompts/Variable to the workbook, so that when a person opens the workbook, he is prompted to optionally select some values before running the report.

I know if we connect to a Bex Query with prompts, those prompts show up. But is there anyway we can manually add prompts at the Analysis level after it is connected to a BW Infocube??

Thanks in advance and sorry if it is confusing to understand what I am trying to achieve

Automatic protection of an Excel WorkBook with Analysis

Hi everyone,

I'm using Analysis for MS Excel connected to BW, and the idea is to allow the users to update all the queries included in the Workbook and that inmediately after that the workbook gets automatically protected, so that the data format, etc. can't be modified.

I dont know if these could be done with a Macro, or if it is even possible. Any help would be appreciated.

Analysis for Office - Connectivity to HANA without ODBC Drivers

$

Hello All -

We are trying to develop Analysis for Office workbooks on native HANA views (calculation views, analytical views) and would like to know if the end user that needs to execute the analysis workbook needs to have the ODBC driver installed on his machine?

I would like to know if there is a way to avoid having to force the end users to install the ODBC drivers in their laptops if possible. We are saving the workbook to the BI Platform and even though we created a shared connection in CMC, it still seems to force the availability of ODBC drivers on the executing machines.

Any help in this regard is highly appreciated...

PS: We are on AO Version 1.3...

Insert Component - Filter: SAP BI Add-in has disconnected all data sources

When we try to add a filter via Insert Component - Filter we get the following error message:

"An exception occurred in one of the data sources.

SAP BI Add-in has disconnected all data sources. (ID-111007)"

"Nested exception. See inner exception below for more details:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

We get disconnected and have to close Analysis completely.

We are on version 1.3 SP5 (version 1.3.5.2288)

What could be the reason for this disconnection?

If we filter the same dimension via the Design Panel then we have no issues.

Kind regards,

Effective filters ~ Filter by Measure

Hi all

Is there a way to somehow display what filters by measure are applied on a sheet?

Just by looking at the report, or the analysis pane, you don't see it.

It would be nice if this could be made visible through the Effective Filters Info Field.

Would this be possible?

Thanks

SSO between SAP Analysis for Office and SAP HANA

Is SSO between SAP Analysis for Office and SAP HANA supported in the latest release?

I tried note 1889408  which doesn't work.

If SSO is not currently supported, any future plans to support this feature?

Currently users have to enter BOBJ ID/PW first then enter HANA ID/PW separately. HANA ID is a shared account which has high risks to be locked by some other users.

BO Analysis standard workbook

Hi all,

we are migrating some BEx workbooks to BO Analysis for office 1.4. As for our first try it worked really good in our opinion. We just have some question regarding the "got to" functionality and standard workbooks.

We created a standard workbook which we used as template for all our BEx reports. After migration we still have all the template look and feel but we want to use that created standard workbook for all our Analysis reports also when we use the "go to"/ "report to report interface" function.

For example:

The user will open a report workbook saved within the BW repository. For further analysis he/she wants to "drill down" to another query. With right click onto the table and selecting the "Go to" functionality the desired query is available as we configured all that within the query designer and the BW. By selecting the query, a new workbook opens without any layout or standard workbook look&feel. Just a new workbook with standard excel layout opens and the query result is entered from cell A1 to xyz.

We would love to have that report opened with a standard look and feel but can not find any way for this. Therefore we would need a template or standard workbook functionality so that every Analysis reports which will open, will have that basis template look&feel.

Could anyone provide help for that issue or is this not available in the Analysis version 1.4?

Many thanks in advance and just the best,

Katja

Is Analysis limited to 1.2GB/750,000 cells due to .NET like BEx 7.x?

Is Analysis limited to 1.2GB/750,000 cells due to .NET like BEx 7.x?

BEx 7.x is limited. Exceeding 1.2GB/750,000 cells results in "Client Out of Memory".

Does Analysis have the same limitation?

Analysis for Office version 1.3.4 - Comment on Data cell

$

Folks - I am planning to use Integrated Planning ( Planning application KIT) with HANA. My  Front End would be Analysis for Office version 1.3.4 and we have a business need to enable comments on cells to explain variances and other changes to key figures primarily.

I am reading through the documentation for analysis for office --> Help ---> Analyzing Data ---> To comment a data cell and would like to explore this functionality further.

Has anyone used this functionality and I tried to use it and I did not have much success.I put a comment after refresh on a key figure to explain the variance and saved the workbook .I then refreshed the workbook to check if the comment was available and it was gone , bummer .

I would really appreciate any leads on how we can achieve this part of the functionality with Analysis for office.

Thanks,

Madhu

SAPCallMemberSelector and range values

$

Hi,

I'm trying to get the range of a variable which is set through a prompt in order to assign new values to this variable and rerun the query via VBA.

In the prompt two input boxes for this variable are shown. So I assume that the following command:

Dim vResult as Variant

vResult = Application.Run("SAPCallMemberSelector", "DS_1", "PROMPT", "VARIABLE")

delivers the entered values. Unfortunately the variable "vResult" is empty and does not return any error.

Since the documentation says that the function "SAPCallMemberSelector" only returns three kinds of return types and in my case the function neither returns an error nor "False", I assume that "SAPCallMemberSelector" can't handle range values. I'm using Analysis 1.4 SP8.

Am I doing something wrong or is the function "SAPCallMemberSelector" not able to handle range values?

Syntax for entering values "contains pattern"

$

Hi,

Reading the SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office User's Guide on page 82/83 I can see that user can filter values user "contains pattern" with an extra-information "*You can not use these syntax rules for filtering."

aa.png

We can filter datas with pattern into SAP BW, so users want to have same functionnality with AfOffice (and they don't understand why we can do this before and not in the nex BI tool whereas it's included in User Guide).

Does it exist a workaround or any information about a release of this capability ?
