Save Template in AFO

$

Hello Experts,

Currently working on HANA Live view. I am executing HANA Live view from Browser and opening the data in AFO. We have AFO 2.2 Installed.

Now I would like to save that workbook either in Mydocument or Role.

When I tried to save I am getting error as "Cannot save workbook in 2.0 format because it is still in 1.4 format and contains an inactive SAP HANA data source" and if I tried with "Save as 1.x Format " getting error as "Cannot save workbook in 1.4 format due to an SAP HANA data source".

Need some help on that.

Analysis 2.2 SP2 startup issue

Hi All,

I recently upgraded to Analysis 2.2 SP2 and noticed that I am unable to launch 'Analysis' from Programs-> SAP Business Intelligence -> SAP Business Objects Analysis -> Analysis for Microsoft Excel'. As a workaround I am able to enable the 'Analysis' add-in from excel through File-> Options-> Add-ins-> COM Add-ins-> Analysis option.

From the log that I realize that the excel is unable to find the Analysis application. Have any of you faced this/similar issue and were able to fix it?

Version 1.4 "The Launcher is Exited with Error" when trying to start up

I have a user that has Analysis for Office v1.4 installed on her machine. She's using Windows XP and Office 2007 and when we try to start up Analysis Excel opens but no splash screen comes up. When I close Excel the attached error message comes up with the text of "The Launcher is exited with error, see log file for more details.". The log file text is:

- Error:General .NET Exception:

Process has exited, so the requested information is not available.

   at System.Diagnostics.Process.get_MainWindowHandle()

After opening excel again I was able to manually activate the Analysis COM Add-in and use the program as usual. However, after I exit and try to re-launch I have to manually activate it again. I saw one "fix" that mentioned copying the dlls from the temp install files into the Analysis folder but that didn't fix it either. We've used the same install on other machines with the same configuration without incident. Any ideas?

Thanks!

BO Analysis standard workbook

Hi all,

we are migrating some BEx workbooks to BO Analysis for office 1.4. As for our first try it worked really good in our opinion. We just have some question regarding the "got to" functionality and standard workbooks.

We created a standard workbook which we used as template for all our BEx reports. After migration we still have all the template look and feel but we want to use that created standard workbook for all our Analysis reports also when we use the "go to"/ "report to report interface" function.

For example:

The user will open a report workbook saved within the BW repository. For further analysis he/she wants to "drill down" to another query. With right click onto the table and selecting the "Go to" functionality the desired query is available as we configured all that within the query designer and the BW. By selecting the query, a new workbook opens without any layout or standard workbook look&feel. Just a new workbook with standard excel layout opens and the query result is entered from cell A1 to xyz.

We would love to have that report opened with a standard look and feel but can not find any way for this. Therefore we would need a template or standard workbook functionality so that every Analysis reports which will open, will have that basis template look&feel.

Could anyone provide help for that issue or is this not available in the Analysis version 1.4?

Many thanks in advance and just the best,

Katja

Support of MS Office 2016

Hi all,

As I have seen some questions related to Office 2016, I decided to create this post just to clarify that the developers are already working on it and MS Office 2016 is planned to be supported in AO 2.2 in Q1, 2016.

Currently it is not supported. You can refer to PAM to check the supported environments.

Connection to BW via BusinessObjects Platform

Hi guys,

We want our users to log onto BW via the BO platform. At the moment I can pull a BW user through into our BO system and they can log onto Analysis by selecting BO platform using SAP Authentication. The next step is that they need to log onto BW. We don't have SSO set up so again they use their BW userID and password.

select_data_source.jpg

What are the options open to us for allowing our users to log onto BW? By that I mean which of the connection options can we use? Currently I only see a list of systems when I select 'Local System' and it pulls thought the systems from my .ini file and I can connect ok to any system regardless of which BO system I connected to.

Can/should I be able to see a list of Systems that we want to give our users access to from the 'System' option from the conenctions pull-down?

I can't find any documentation that details how I go about doing this, if it's at all possible. I assume I do some security in the BO CMC?

I hope the above makes sense? Regards and thanks in advance,

Stephen

SAP Business Objects Analysis for Office 1.4 on Microfost Office 64-Bit Version

Hello,

Has anyone installed SAP Business Objects Analysis for Office 1.4 SP6 on Microsoft Office (Excel) 64-Bit Version. I am getting message "The launcher was not able to connect Analysis Add-In. Make sure that Analysis Add-In is not disabled by Office Application".

When I activated the Analysis Add-In, I am getting below Error: "Excel experienced a serious problem with the 'analysis' add-in." and it is forcing to disable the add-in and asking to check for if any update is available. It was working fine on 32-bit Excel version.

Thanks,

Ram

Delay while Inserting Data source in AO 2.2

Hi,

Did anyone experienced delay with "Insert data source" in AO 2.2?

We are having delay of approx. 15sec with AO 2.2, whereas in AO 1.4 it was instantaneous.

We have this problem when accessing the Analysis Add-In from Excel.

However we don't have this delay with 'Analysis for Excel' from program folder, but this method takes 15secs for the Analysis splash screen to go away.

Please advice if anyone have an idea about it.

Thanks,

Reshma M.

Dear SAP Community,

Analysis Office Workbook scheduling is failing in all environment (Prod/Dev/Test) for all users with below error message:

Error: Error during scheduling; workbook does not contain OLAP connection.

Environment Details are as below:

- Product Version: SAP BI 4.1 SP6 Patch 3

- Analysis Office BIP Server Add-on 2.2 (server version)

- SAP BO Analysis Edition for Office 2.2.2.55076 (client version)

- Server OS: Windows Server 2012 R2

SSO using STS to backend BW server works fine

We followed SAP KBA: 2134836: Checklist for scheduling Analysis for office workbooks.  We made sure all necessary things are in place however all workbooks are continues failing.

We are able to view and refresh same affected workbooks when opened from AAO client. Only scheduling part is impacted via BI-Launchpad in all environments.

I could not attach complete logs here, but here is the snippet for reference. Could someone assist us on this?

Size Limit of Result Set Exceeded

Users have been reporting this issue in Analyzer for Excel 1.4.0.2528. (Office 2010)

I've researched and there's a registry hack which can clear the issue up.

Unfortunately checking the various installs, the key just doesn't exist.  It doesn't go beyond the SAP key which should be AdvancedAnalytics.

Other sources point out a file location in AppData - that location doesn't exist either.

Has there been a change or update or something else to review to fix this limitation problem?

Thanks.

BW-IP:free text can enter by Analyzer but can't do it in Analysis Office

Hi Experts

I created a characteristic without master data and text. Which is used for record comments during planning. I can write free text into this characteristic by BEx Analyzer. But I can't do this in AO. AO not allowed input a record which not exist in master data into characteristic.

I did searched a lot on SCN for work around this issue. Set Characteristic as Key Figure might solve my problem but I am using BW7.0. Which still not support this feature. Does anyone has any other solution on this?

Thanks

Analysis for Office with Windows 10 x64 and Office 2013 x64

As I managed to get the kit for latest version of BO Analysis 2.2 SP2 that is tagged by SAP as compatible with Office 2013 and 2013 and Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 both 32 and 64 bit versions, I had installed it in Windows 7 x64 with Office 2013 x64 without any issue. After launch all the functionalities are working ok, great.

When I have tried the same Analysis with the same Office but on my newer machine with Windows 10 x64 that needs to replace the out of warranty one (with Windows 7), I had bumped into 1 big issue as the installation does not detects Office 2013 64 bit at all (see image)...

Any change of a workaround or is this a known issue that might be solved into next release SP3 of same 2.2 version?

Enable Group Measures in Analysis

I am currently using HANA 95 and Analysis Office 2.2 SP2 and looking to group measures so that they appear group in folders in Analysis.

When I created a calculated view in HANA there are clear instructions how to do this and have measures be displayed in the semantic layers. I provided those instructions below.

I have reviewed all notes and online discussion's and not found anything regarding this feature or lack there of in analysis office.  I was able to see the folders when using native olap connection through excel. This seems to be a limitation of Analysis??

Can Analysis for Office 2.2 run with EPM 10.0?

$

0

Hi,

We have SAP Analysis for Office 1.4 and the BPC EPM 10.0 running in concurrently on Client machines.

We were planning to upgrade AO to 2.2 and take advantage of both the Analysis & EPM Plugins. In the process the old EPM 10.0 would be uninstalled. '

However, during the course of testing the new EPM Plugin within AO 2.2, we found there are a lot of changes (especially in the VBA Macros) needed many of which are not Backward Compatible with the Old EPM 10.0.

In the interest of time, we are considering the option to upgrade only the Analysis Plugin for from 1.4 to 2.2 and keep the EPM Plugin as it is, i.e. on EPM 10.0.

I have not seen any documentation/Note describing this scenario and if this will work? Does anyone have know how if this work and what are the considerations to take.

Macro SAPLogon is very slow

Hi,

I use the Analysis Office API to connect with the SAPLogon macro and refresh my reports. Unfortunately the logon macro needs about 30 seconds to connect to my SAP system.

I think this is very slow, because when I want to automate my reports (about 1.000 reports), I have to close and open Excel again, because Excel needs to much RAM after a few reports.

Is there anyone you have the same problems? Is there maybe a better solution? I use Analysis Office 2.2 SP2.

LogOn LogOff in Analysis?

$
0
0

Hi all

we are using the regular LogOn when refreshing an Analysis Workbook / datasource.

I am aware of the API of Analysis to silently ( no dialog) Login onto BW by providing the

iAppCall = Application.Run("SAPLogon", "DS_1", "MyClient", "MyUser", "MyPWD", "EN")

API call.

In 3tier environment we really need a LogOff functionality, that might allow us to have 3 buttons like:

LogOn DEV

LogOn QA

LogOn Prod

to verify and test query data without closing AO Excel anytime we change the system by just having a LogOff and relogOn  via API & VBA

Does anyone know if there is a hidden feature ( @ Victor: maybe you have a hint )

If not I'll add it to the feature list of AO

Best regards

Joerg
