Multiple Criteria for Analysis Prompt

$

Hey guys, first post so I hope I can explain exactly what I need (that I couldn't find).

We have some analysts that use BEx for reports since it allows the user to paste in multiple items to exclude from a query. When using Analysis 1.4, the Prompts window allows you to add additional lines by hitting the + sign to the right or using the 'Add Lines Using Filter by Members'. However, using that feature and copying in a list of thousands of ID numbers, it sets all those in as "=" as default. We need them to be "!=", but if you change the sign first in the drop down, it still defaults back when you add the lines in. Is there a way to exclude a long list of criteria numbers? Thanks!

Analysis, Office Edition SSO not working to BW System for all users

$

We are currently using SAP Analysis, Office Edition 1.4.10 and are having an issue with using SSO directly to BW.

If we create a workbook, connected directly to our BW 7.4 Sandbox and BW 7.3 QA environments using SSO and then send the workbook to some people in the group, they are being prompted for their userid and password, rather than automatically using SSO to connect to BW. I can send the workbook to other people and it uses SSO, like I would expect it to. We have confirmed that the users experiencing the issue have valid logins to our environments, their account is not locked and their password is valid.

When we create a new workbook, connected directly to our BW 7.3 Production environment using SSO and then send the workbook to others, it automatically detects that we want to use SSO and logs them in with their credentials.

In this example, we have 64-bit Analysis for Office deployed using Microsoft RDS. It seems to work fine if we use a locally installed version of 32-bit Analysis for Office.

We are interested in understanding where in the workbook the connection information is stored. We opened all of the xml files included in the xlsx file and do not see the BW system we are connecting to or whether we should be using SSO or non-SSO.

Can anyone point me to information on how the connection information is stored with the workbook? Any information will be helpful while we work through the troubleshooting.

Thanks!

View in PowerPoint gets only 3 bars

Hi all,

im trying to create a PowerPoint with charts connected to NetWeaver. Every time i smart copy a view and paste it to a slide it has only 3 bars. If i go to "Select Data" in PowerPoint chart settings there are always 3 columns and 4 rows selected in the connected table, no matter how much the source table in Excel got. When selecting the correct range in the connected table the chart is fixed and works fine while updating. But selecting the correct range every time is really annoying...

Creating the charts in Excel works fine, but smart copy and paste to PowerPoint results in same issue.

Anyone else with this problem?

We are using version 2.2 SP2 on Office 2010.

Best regards

Carsten

Dear all,

I´m trying to create a HANA Connection to Analysis for Office with following versions installed:

Analysis for Office 2.0

Just updated Client BI 4.1 to SP 5

HANA version (under HANA Studio) is 1.00.80.00.391861

I have been trying different options and I have not been able to connect porperly to the data.

With a Relational Connection created in the IDT I can access the HANA sources and build my report normally, but at the moment of saving the report I get an error saying: "Cannot save workbook in 2.0 format because it is still in 1.4 format and contains an inactive SAP HANA data source"

Do you have any idea of why I get this error?

Thanks and BR

BO Analysis for Excel – How to connect to SAP BW

Hi Gurus,

We recently upgrade to BO 4.1 (from 3.1).  And want to start to use Analysis for Excel.

We are little unclear how to connect from Analysis for Excel to SAP BW 7,3.

From Analysis select “Select Data Source” Then get a pop-up “Logon to SAP BussinessObjects BI Platform” with User, Password and Web Service URL.  All those are blank.  For the Web Service URL there is a message “Error while checking availability of SAP BussinessObjects BI Platform system”

ScreenHunter_1001 Sep. 16 10.56.jpg

If choose “Skip” then get SAP Logonpad and can log on to BW.  From there I can choose the BW queries directly.

What is the best practice to connect from Analysis for Excel to SAP BW?

Is it not possible to connect to the BO server?  And choose OLAP connection from there to connect to BW?

If so, is something missing in our setup?

Regards,

Reynir

Dear SAP Community,

Analysis Office Workbook scheduling is failing in all environment (Prod/Dev/Test) for all users with below error message:

Error: Error during scheduling; workbook does not contain OLAP connection.

Environment Details are as below:

- Product Version: SAP BI 4.1 SP6 Patch 3

- Analysis Office BIP Server Add-on 2.2 (server version)

- SAP BO Analysis Edition for Office 2.2.2.55076 (client version)

- Server OS: Windows Server 2012 R2

SSO using STS to backend BW server works fine

We followed SAP KBA: 2134836: Checklist for scheduling Analysis for office workbooks.  We made sure all necessary things are in place however all workbooks are continues failing.

We are able to view and refresh same affected workbooks when opened from AAO client. Only scheduling part is impacted via BI-Launchpad in all environments.

I could not attach complete logs here, but here is the snippet for reference. Could someone assist us on this?

Mahesh

Closed Workbooks still appear to be open in VBE / memory issues

Dear fellow users,

I encounter a problem when using macros in an Excel Workbook to access Analysis functions in order to refresh datasources, set filters etc.

After closing the workbook in Excel via File -> Close or clicking the "X" in its window, the Workbook is still available in the Visual Basic Editor.

If I have several files open, I will get memory issues, as the supposedly closed files still seem to take up (quite a lot of) memory.

I use AO 1.4.4.2736 with Excel 2010 32bit.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Please see attaced image. I have one open file, I close it, but is still visible in the VBE.

After unloading the Analysis Com-AddIn the file is gone, Memory is freed.

Version 1.4 "The Launcher is Exited with Error" when trying to start up

I have a user that has Analysis for Office v1.4 installed on her machine. She's using Windows XP and Office 2007 and when we try to start up Analysis Excel opens but no splash screen comes up. When I close Excel the attached error message comes up with the text of "The Launcher is exited with error, see log file for more details.". The log file text is:

- Error:General .NET Exception:

Process has exited, so the requested information is not available.

After opening excel again I was able to manually activate the Analysis COM Add-in and use the program as usual. However, after I exit and try to re-launch I have to manually activate it again. I saw one "fix" that mentioned copying the dlls from the temp install files into the Analysis folder but that didn't fix it either. We've used the same install on other machines with the same configuration without incident. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi All,

I recently upgraded to Analysis 2.2 SP2 and noticed that I am unable to launch 'Analysis' from Programs-> SAP Business Intelligence -> SAP Business Objects Analysis -> Analysis for Microsoft Excel'. As a workaround I am able to enable the 'Analysis' add-in from excel through File-> Options-> Add-ins-> COM Add-ins-> Analysis option.

From the log that I realize that the excel is unable to find the Analysis application. Have any of you faced this/similar issue and were able to fix it?

Hi all,

As I have seen some questions related to Office 2016, I decided to create this post just to clarify that the developers are already working on it and MS Office 2016 is planned to be supported in AO 2.2 in Q1, 2016.

Currently it is not supported. You can refer to PAM to check the supported environments.

Analysis vs WebI (Web Intelligence)

I've searched all over SCN as well as the rest of the web and can't find a good comparison between the two tools. I did see a post on here comparing WebI 3.X with Analysis 4.0 but we're specifically looking at 4.0 tools. We're working on a side by side comparison of BusinessObjects Analysis vs Web Intelligence and what situations, if any, you would want to use WebI over Analysis, especially when you have Crystal Reports as an option for formatted reports. To us it seems that Analysis gives you much more flexibility without the restrictions of WebI. Any input on this or links to relevant articles is much appreciated and points will be awarded for helpful answers!
